Debutto per il "Terni Falls Festival", l'evento che vuole riscoprire il territorio di Terni, Narni e Valnerina con una serie di appuntamenti culturali legati al fascino della Cascata delle Marmore, ovvero la grande attrazione capace, attraverso i secoli, e specialmente ai tempi del Grand Tour, di richiamare in Umbria viaggiatori da ogni parte del mondo.
Qualche nome?
Da Galileo Galilei a Vittorio Alfieri, da Lord Byron a von Goethe, passando per Vittorio Alfieri, Hans Christian Andersen, Camille Corot, Giacomo Leopardi, Charles Dickens: è lunghissima la lista dei grandi personaggi della scienza, della letteratura, della politica e della pittura che sono transitati ed hanno soggiornato a Terni o Narni, con l’intenzione di visitare appunto la tanto decantata caduta del fiume Velino nel fiume Nera, la più alta cascata in Europa (165 metri).
L'idea alla base dell'iniziativa è quella di fare cultura, e promozione del territorio, valorizzando ogni anno una di queste celeberrime figure.
Il 2018 è l’anno in cui ricorre il bicentenario dal passaggio dalla Cascata delle Marmore dei coniugi Mary Shelley e Percy Bysshe Shelley, che giunsero ad ammirarla il giorno 18 novembre 1818, lasciando poi suggestive testimonianze nei loro diari.
Il ricco programma del festival propone passeggiate nei centri storici, dibattiti di approfondimento, concerti e spettacoli, tutti a tema con il soggetto scelto per questa prima edizione.
Il 2018 è infatti anche l’anno in cui ricorre il bicententenario della pubblicazione di Frankenstein, ovvero il celeberrimo romanzo gotico che fece la fortuna di Mary Shelley come autrice.

From Galileo Galilei to Vittorio Alfieri, from Lord Byron to von Goethe, passing through Vittorio Alfieri, Hans Christian Andersen, Camille Corot, Giacomo Leopardi, Charles Dickens: there is a long list of the great personalities of science, literature, politics and painting who have passed through and stayed in Terni or Narni, with the intention of visiting the much praised fall of the Velino River into the Nera river, the highest waterfall in Europe (165 metres).
The idea behind the initiative is to make culture and promote the territory, by enhancing each year one of these famous figures.
2018 marks the bicentenary since the couple Mary Shelley and Percy Bysshe Shelley went to the Marmore Waterfall. They came to admire it on 18 November 1818, leaving impressive testimonies in their diaries.
The rich program of the festival offers walks in the historic centres, in-depth debates, concerts and shows, all themed with the subject chosen for this first edition.
In fact, 2018 is also the year that marks the bicentenary of Frankenstein’s publication, the famous Gothic novel that made the fortune of Mary Shelley as author.
