La Giostra della Quintana è la gara più avvincente e difficile che si svolga in Italia e per questo è stata definita l’Olimpiade dei Giochi di Antico Regime.
Durante i giorni di Quintana, la città si anima con l’apertura delle dieci taverne rionali dove si possono gustare i piatti tipici della gastronomia secentesca che esaltano la qualità dei prodotti tipici del territorio. L’atmosfera è coinvolgente e lo spettatore viene accompagnato in un indimenticabile viaggio a ritroso nel tempo.
La gara al Campo è esaltante e scatena l’entusiasmo degli spettatori. È il momento della sfida tra i cavalieri dei dieci rioni, in cui è divisa Foligno, che si contendono il Palio dando prova di grande abilità e maestria.
Il 27 agosto apriranno le taverne rionali, il 30 agosto sono previste le prove ufficiali e per il 13 settembre è stata fissata la data dell’edizione 2020 della Giostra della Quintana. Un evento molto sentito dai folignati e dagli abitanti dei paesi limitrofi che, nei giorni della Quintana, vivono una festa continua riunendosi nelle taverne del centro storico.
Le taverne della città seguiranno tutte le misure di sicurezza necessarie in questo periodo di emergenza sanitaria: sarà garantito il distanziamento tra i commensali, gel santificanti saranno a disposizione degli avventori, i popolani indosseranno la mascherina durante il servizio come i clienti quando si alzeranno dal tavolo e si sposteranno all’interno della taverna, verranno igienizzate le superfici.
Per quanto riguarda l’accesso al Campo per la Giostra del 13 settembre, l’Ente Giostra ha pianificato un protocollo specifico per attuare tutte le norme vigenti all’entrata, all’uscita e dentro il Campo.
Gli spettatori dovranno indossare la mascherina per fare ingresso alla gara. Il numero di posti disponibili sarà deciso dagli organi competenti secondo le disposizioni che saranno in vigore per la data della Giostra.

The Giostra della Quintana is the most exciting and difficult race taking place in Italy and, for this reason, it has been called the Olympics of the Ancient Regime Games.
During the days of Quintana, the city comes alive with the opening of ten local taverns where you can taste the typical dishes of the seventeenth-century gastronomy that enhance the quality of the local products. The atmosphere is engaging and the viewer is accompanied on an unforgettable journey back in time.
The race at the Campo (lit. field) is exciting and arouses the enthusiasm of the spectators. It is the moment of the challenge between the knights of the ten districts forming the city of Foligno. They compete for the Palio giving proof of great skill and mastery.
The local taverns open on 27 August, official rehearsals are scheduled for 30 August and the 2020 edition of the Giostra della Quintana will be held on 13 September. It is an event strongly felt by the people of Foligno and by the inhabitants of the neighboring villages. In the days of Quintana, they experience a continuous feast, gathering in the taverns of the historic centre.
In this period of health emergency, the local taverns will follow all the necessary safety measures: the distancing between the diners will be guaranteed, hand-sanitizing gels will be available to the guests, the “commoners” will wear the mask during the service as well as the customers which have to wear the mask when they get up from the table and walk inside the tavern, the surfaces will be sanitised, too.
Regarding access to the Campo for the Giostra on 13 September, the organisation has planned a specific protocol to implement all the regulations in force. It concerns the entry, the exit, the transit and the stay inside the Campo.
Spectators must wear a mask to enter the field. The number of places available will be decided by the competent bodies according to the provisions that will be in force on the date of the event.
