L'antica tradizione vuole che nella notte tra il 30 aprile e il primo maggio a Terni si celebri l'arrivo della primavera con una grande festa: il Cantamaggio, che quest'anno raggiunge la sua 121esima edizione.
Novità assoluta per il 2017 è l'abbinamento dei sei carri in concorso con i rioni in cui sembrerebbe fosse suddivisa la città di San Valentino nel lontano XVII secolo.
Ad aprire la "Festa di primavera", dal 28 aprile al 14 maggio, sarà il settimo concorso delle canzoni in dialetto ‘G. Capiato' al teatro Secci, mentre la sera del 30 aprile sarà la volta della sfilata dei carri allegorici per le vie dalla città (con replica e premiazione il primo maggio).
Il 5 maggio alle 16, al teatro Secci, si svolgerà invece il sesto concorso poeti a Terni "Alighiero Maurizi", mentre il 6, il 13 e il 14 maggio nei quartieri verrà organizzata la "Festa di maggio".

The ancient tradition wants that in the night between the 30th April and the 1st May in Terni the arrival of spring should be celebrated with a big event: the Cantamaggio, that this year reaches its 121st edition.
A complete innovation for 2017 is going to be the pairing of the six competing floats with the apparently original districts of Terni in the far 17th century.
To open the "Spring Festival", from the 28th April to the 14th May, there will be the seventh competition of songs in dialect "G. Capiato" at the Secci Theatre, whereas in the evening of 30th April it will be the turn of the floats' parade along the town's streets (with reply and awarding on the 1st May).
The sixth contest for poets "Alighiero Maurizi" is instead going to take place at the Secci Theatre on the 5th May at 4 pm, whereas on the 6th, 13th and 14th May the "May Festival" is going to be organized in the districts.
