Il titolo della mostra REPETITA chiarisce l’intenzione dell’artista di esplicare l’intricato sistema emozionale che nutre gli individui, rievocando con la pittura inconsce realtà frammentate per mezzo di segni archetipi.
La materia stratificata, si traduce sulla tela in una sorta di mappatura concettuale costellata da sagome riconoscibili ripetute e cancellate, sostenute, in alcuni casi, da un libero intrigo di segni che accolgono in scrittura rimandi alla filosofia greca e romana, alla cultura laica e religiosa, affermando l’importanza del senso della storia e conferendo allo spazio pittorico una natura cosmica.
Nelle opere lo spazio pittorico è determinato da pochi elementi che delineano un progetto ideativo volto al raggiungimento della simbiosi tra equilibrio estetico, valore plastico e struttura concettuale dell’opera.
Le carte e i dipinti testimoniano il lavoro di sovrapposizione di una gestualità astratta sopra un motivo originario, dissimulato ma ancora in parte visibile.
La ripetizione del segno tracciato e cancellato non è altro che l’azione stessa dell’artista, il fine è la ricerca di un linguaggio che renda plausibile il compito stesso della pittura nel discernimento del reale.
Leonardo D’Amico nasce nel 1967 a Cosenza. Significative mostre personali e collettive, realizzate in Italia e all’estero, segnano il progredire/divenire del pittore nella sua sperimentazione che trova alcuni punti di snodo nelle esposizioni del Museo Nazionale di Tirana (2010); Centro di documentazione e ricerca artistica contemporanea Luigi di Sarro (2013); Mak di Crotene (2015) L'artista vive e lavora a Roma.

The exhibition devoted to the work of the artist Leonardo D’Amico, related to the period 2010/2017, will be open to the public from 3rd March at the Museum Venue of Lucarini Palace in Trevi.
The title of the exhibition REPETITA clarifies the intention of the artist to explain the intricate emotional system that nourishes humans, by recalling through painting unconscious fragmented realities by means of archetypical signs.
The stratified matter turns in the canvas into a sort of conceptual mapping punctuated by recognizable shapes that are repeated and cancelled, in some cases supported by a free maze of signs welcoming in writing references to the Greek and Roman philosophy, to the laic and religious culture, by stating the importance of the history’s sense and by attributing a cosmic nature to the pictorial space.
In the artworks the pictorial space is outlined by few elements defining an ideational plan aiming to achieve the symbiosis between aesthetic balance, plastic value and conceptual structure of the artwork.
Papers and paintings evidence the work of overlapping between abstract gestures and an original motif, disguised but partly still visible.
The repetition of the sign drawn and cancelled is nothing but the action of the artist himself, whose aim is the research of a language making plausible the function of painting itself in the reality’s discernment.
Leonardo D’Amico was born in 1967 in Cosenza. Significant personal and collective exhibitions, organized in Italy and abroad, mark the progress and development of the artist in his experimentation that finds some turning points in the exhibitions of the National Museum of Tirana (2010); Centre of contemporary documentation and artistic research Luigi di Sarro (2013); Mak of Crotene (2015). The artist lives and works in Rome.
