La mostra Il teatro nascosto. Una storia per immagini, che raccoglie le fotografie inedite del ritrovamento e della messa in luce del Teatro Romano di Spoleto, è allestita al Museo Archeologico di Spoleto fino al 30 settembre.
La mostra, promossa dal Polo Museale dell’Umbria – Museo Archeologico e Teatro Romano di Spoleto, in collaborazione con Astra onlus e con l’Archivio di Stato di Perugia, sez. di Spoleto, rende pubbliche le fotografie scattate dall’ispettore archeologo Umberto Ciotti, che documentò i lavori di demolizione e di scavo.
Il materiale messo a disposizione dall’Accademia Etrusca di Cortona e dall’archivio del Museo Archeologico Nazionale dell’Umbria rivela aspetti inediti della scoperta del teatro romano e della trasformazione del complesso di S.Agata da carcere giudiziario (1867-1957) a museo: lavori iniziati nel 1938 e completati nel 1957.
The exhibition " The Hidden Theatre. A story in images", which collects unpublished photographs about the discovery of the Roman Theatre of Spoleto, is set up at the Archaeological Museum of Spoleto until 305px; line-height: 0; vertical-align: baseline; top: -0.5em;">th September.
The exhibition, promoted by the Umbrian Museum Centre - Archaeological Museum and Roman Theatre in Spoleto, in collaboration with Astra onlus and the State Archives of Perugia (Spoleto section) makes public the photographs taken by the archaeologist inspector Umberto Ciotti, who documented the demolition and excavation work. The material made available by the Etruscan Academy of Cortona and the archives of the Umbrian National Archaeological Museum reveals new aspects relating to the discovery of the Roman theatre and the transformation of the S.Agata complex from a judicial prison (1867-1957) into a museum: the works began in 1938 and were completed in 1957.
