Nata nel 1987 per ricordare Paolo d'Aloja, Presidente della Federazione Italiana Canottaggio negli anni '70 e '80, la Regata internazionale ha visto coinvolte, sin dai suoi inizi, decine di squadre provenienti da tutto il mondo.
L'evento è un vero e proprio test tecnico per gli equipaggi presenti: svolgendosi all'inizio della stagione agonistica, infatti, permette di verificare la preparazione degli atleti in vista degli appuntamenti olimpici e dei Campionati del Mondo.

Founded in 1987 to commemorate Paolo d'Aloja, President of the Italian Rowing Federation in the 70s and 80s, the International Regatta has involved, since its inception, dozens of teams from around the world.
The event is a real technical test for the participating crews. Indeed, it takes place at the beginning of the competitive season and allows to verify the preparation of the athletes for the Olympic appointments and the World Championships.
