La "Settimana del Pianeta Terra - L'Italia alla scoperta delle Geoscienze - Una società più informata è una società più coinvolta" è un festival scientifico che coinvolge tutta l'Italia che, solo nella scorsa edizione, ha visto partecipare circa 80 mila persone.
Per una intera settimana di ottobre diverse località sparse su tutto il territorio nazionale sono animate da manifestazioni per diffondere la cultura scientifica, i "Geoeventi": escursioni, passeggiate nei centri urbani e storici, porte aperte nei musei e nei centri di ricerca, visite guidate, esposizioni, laboratori didattici e sperimentali per bambini e ragazzi, attività musicali e artistiche, degustazioni conviviali, conferenze, convegni, workshop, tavole rotonde.
L'obiettivo della manifestazione è quello di far appassionare i giovani alla scienza, alle Geoscienze in particolare, e trasmettere l'entusiasmo per la ricerca e la scoperta scientifica: per una settimana intera, l'Italia apre le porte non solo sul suo patrimonio geologico e naturale, ma anche su quel territorio complesso dove i geologi lavorano ogni giorno.
Da Perugia a Spello, da San Venanzo a Spoleto, da Allerona a Gubbio: anche l'Umbria aderisce all'iniziativa con una serie di appuntamenti dal 15 al 22 ottobre.

The “Week of Planet Earth - Italy will discover Geosciences - A more informed society is more involved and engaged” is a scientific festival involving all Italy that, just in the past edition, saw the participation of about 80.000 people.
Throughout a whole week of October different locations across Italy will be animated by events aimed at spreading the scientific culture, the “Geo events”: excursions, walks in the urban and historical centres, open doors in the museums and in the research centres, guided visits, exhibitions, educational and experimental laboratories for kids and teenagers, musical and artistic activities, convivial tastings, conferences, workshops and round tables.
The events aims at engaging young people in the science, particularly in the geosciences, as well as conveying the enthusiasm for research and scientific discoveries: throughout a week, Italy will open its doors not only on its geological and natural heritage, but also on that complex territory where geologists work every day.
From Perugia to Spello, from San Venanzo to Spoleto, from Allerona to Gubbio: Umbria also joins the initiative with a series of appointments from the 15th to the 22nd October.
